Friday, December 5th, 2008 - The Birds of Sorrow and of Grief

This morning, the secretary opened the 5th little door of her advent-calendar, and found this behind it:

“You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow and of grief from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair.”

She has been thinking about this the whole day. It seems very desirable to do as the saying says, but how?

It seems, too, that Miss Doodle is one of those persons, who naturally does what the saying suggests. So, this came to the secretary's mind, it's for Suki.

Oh Andrea, this is so beautiful. I am glad Miss Doodle and you have been given the gift of these words. When I first read them, I immediately thought of Suki.

The painting is so beautiful and the symbols are perfect for your purpose.

You both are incredible friends to so many!

Oh andrea, I am only just now scanning posts I have missed and I found this beautiful painting. With such a beautiful saying too. Well, my hair has no room for nests but I suppose they could sit on my head.:) I will remember this as I go through the next days. Today I am enmeshed in sadness. My brother said one of the times he most misses his wife is in the morning, and I am finding this is true about mom too. I have been breathing deeply and doing yoga and walking. Sorting through Mom's clothes. Quiet. Thank you so much, Andrea. Love Suki PS I have a post planned in which I will show some of the pictures various folks have put up about Mom and Suki. may I post this too?
